Sewing Workshop: DIY Pirate Shirt

Ready to Enter Your Pirate/Poet Era?

Always wanted to lounge around your house in a dramatic billowy shirt? Always wanted to make your own renaissance faire garb? Come learn how it’s done at this workshop! Our instructor will walk you through the basics of making your own historical 17th/18th century shirt from start to finish, while incorporating the speed of machine sewing!

In this hands-on workshop, we'll cover:

  • How to take your measurements: a well-fitting piece always starts with accurate body measurements!

  • Building a pattern with rectangles (and math!): Historical shirts were made to economize on fabric - learn how to make garments with minimal fabric waste

  • Hand finishing techniques: Learn how to incorporate flat felling and rolled hems into delicate fabrics

🛠️ All-Inclusive Supplies, BYO sewing machine!

Don't worry about gathering materials—we've got everything you need to put together your shirt. While we do have a few sewing machines in the studio, we suggest bringing your own if you have one!

You’ll get to use our:

  • Premium 100% cotton muslin (white)

  • Cotton thread

  • Heat erase pens/chalk

  • Iron and ironing board

Plus, you'll receive 1:1 attention and a step-by-step checklist so you can continue your new skills at home.

🪡 Are beginners welcome?

All you need is the ability to use a machine to sew in a straight line! We’ll teach you the rest.
