Woodworking 101: Make Your Own Cutting Board

Ready to get your hands dirty and dive into the world of woodworking? Join our three-hour Woodshop 101 class and learn the basics of woodworking while crafting your very own custom cutting board!

Craft A Custom Cutting Board:  You’ll choose wood from our supply, design the layout of your cutting board, then learn to glue up and clamp the board.

Learn Woodshop Safety:   While the cutting board dries, we’ll tackle the essentials to make sure you feel confident in the woodshop environment. You’ll learn the basics of woodshop safety so you can focus on creating.

Master Common Tools:  Cut your board down to size with a miter saw, circular saw, or bandsaw, then finish it with the jointer, planer, and/or belt sander.  You can also use the router for handles or a drill press for a corner hook!  Then, oil the boards, and celebrate!

This class is perfect for beginners—no prior experience is needed! Whether you’re looking to start a new hobby or just want to try something different, this class will give you a solid foundation in woodworking. Plus, you’ll have a handcrafted cutting board to show off in your kitchen!

Please note, this class is for adults (18 years or older) only. All supplies and equipment will be provided.

Our Instructor: Anna Claire Eddington is a woodworker in Austin, TX. She trained through the Austin Community College Woodworking Program where she focused on furniture making and cabinetry. Her favorite hardwood to work with is cherry, and her most recent project is a set of chairs for the dining room table she built at ACC. When not working on complex joinery, Anna Claire can be found traveling, hiking, or working on her beverage brand, Open Eye Chai.
